i don't think they should as they did not finished in the top 4 rules are rules and wht a shame for the team that they bump off

It's quite difficult subject... as I like Liverpool and J. Dudek especially, but there were rules as there are in Euro Cup. So, the defender is not sure to play in competition. Another situation is in World Cup.
But, I think it's good for football.

Agreed there Rob. Why could not the Champions defend their title? They should not call it 'CHampions League' in that case

no the word Champions league mean if u win your league in your country thats where u play in the champion league not 2nd or 3r or 4th spot in your league, the eupeopn cup now knows as the champions league was only for the champions of your country and its all about money they just all the big teams to be there

and next season the winners will be automatically placed in the competition, and if they didnt finish in the qualification places in their league then the team in the last slot will be thrown out. This means that this season Everton, who fought all season to be in 4th, would be thrown into the UEFA Cup and Liverpool would take their place for winning the Champions League, but at the expense of their league form. I think this rule is unfair, if you are good enough to win the Champions League then you should be good enough to finish high enough to get into it the following season, without having to throw somebody else out of the competition to accommodate them.
